Hi Kemal - tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you and what do you do for fun?

Hi, I’m a 22 year old front-end developer residing in Istanbul, but originally from Turkey.

I believe there are some critical hacks in life to make it great. Like having real friends, listening, learning and making good music, holding onto a sport branch, tight family relations, doing things I really enjoy for work, sporting a designer look and so on.

What do you do for a living and how long have you been in this industry?

I'm a computer engineer in Turkey.

It’s exciting to be an engineer, because I have big dreams and it’s a way to make them real. I've been working as a front-end engineer for the last year and a half and feel blessed, because I love my job!

What brought you to egghead in the first place?

I had some experience with JavaScript, jQuery and Angular. But I was not sure what was the best way to build an architecture with them.

I already had a subscription to Treehouse, Codeschool, Codeacademy, Udemy and so on. Some of them were really good, but most of them were a waste of time and I don't have that much time to waste!

I saw some references from Github, Stack Overflow and some people I follow to egghead. I think the biggest difference is that most of the courses fully cover the topic without wasting time. Also, lists of topics are chosen wisely and take a step-by-step approached from the basic to advanced level.

When I was researching Angular and React, I ran across egghead and thought it was heaven -- I found almost everything that I needed. If you are a front-end engineer, all roads eventually lead to egghead. :)

What are some big successes you’ve had recently?

In six months I doubled my salary!

But more importantly, I really love my job and learning all of these great technologies excites me more than my paycheck. I feel like I now have the ability to build something useful and know how to scale it.

What are you most excited about for your career in 2016?

I’m working with a really great team. Every member of our team (including our team lead) shares the same vision about building 'good' products by using the best method all the way to the end.

Also JavaScript growing so much, so fast and the question of “What is next?” is exciting to me.

Kemal Tatar is a 22 year old front-end developer at Freebird Systems. He was born in Ankara, Turkey, but currently resides in Istanbul. A high school graduate of Yildirim Beyazit Anatolian High School, Kemal went on to graduate university at Ege University with a degree in Computer Engineering. For fun, Kemal travels, plays the acoustic guitar, is a piano lover and overall geek.
