“I recently had a job interview in which I was supposed to write some code in React. Egghead videos helped me to get up to speed with React and successfully complete my coding assignment - I have a new job thanks to you guys!”

Hi Ifeanyi - tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you and what do you do for fun?

I am a software developer and have been in the industry for about 6 years.

It’s what I do for a living and for fun as well. I love spending time learning new frameworks or improving the knowledge I have of others.

I am also a mild philosopher, pragmatic psychologist and soccer player. When not engaged in any of these, I am most likely watching soccer, checking out a new bar in Vancouver with friends or watching movies.

What brought you to Egghead in the first place?

I had to help train new developers on the MEAN stack. I needed to get up to speed quickly with Angular so I was looking for tutorials that will help with that.

Via a Google search, I found Egghead and I fell in love with it because their videos are concise, straight to the point and the platform has a lot of content. In just 2-4 hours, I found that I could be an expert in some of these very new JavaScript technologies - I couldn’t help but fall in love with Egghead!

What are some big successes you’ve had recently?

I applied for a job in a company that is into security software.

As part of the interview process, I had to do a coding assignment in React. I was given the assignment on a Monday and had to finish by Friday at noon (and I was already working full-time).

So I needed to get up-to-speed quickly with React to complete the assignment. There was no other place I could get up-to-speed quicker than on egghead (since the videos are concise, deep enough and go straight to the point). I spent a couple of hours going through the videos and that gave me sufficient knowledge to build the app.

Long story short, I ended up getting a very good job. When the panel reviewed the code, they were really amazed that someone with little or no knowledge of React previously could come up with that.

This was all thanks to Egghead.

To be even more prepared for the new job, I am going through Egghead’s React tutorials with Flux using ES6. So far it’s been amazing.

What are you most excited about for your career in 2016?

I am excited about the direction JavaScript is going.

Years ago when I started coding in JavaScript, I never thought that it would become this big. Recently I read an article on how it is used outside the web (e.g. on microcontrollers).

In 2016, I will be working mostly with React, but in my spare time, I hope to try out other JS frameworks too. I’m depending on Egghead to continue providing me with the tutorials needed to hit the ground running quickly with these JS frameworks/libraries (no pressure guys ;-)!
